Barnums Fall In Extras To Simsbury
The Bridgeport Barnums fell to the Simsbury Sabercats 3-2 in nine innings on Tuesday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.
The game was scoreless through three and a half innings, before Bridgeport got on the board in the bottom of the fourth.
The run came in when Brayden Mazzoni, who had singled to lead off the inning, ran home on a throw down to first after a dropped third strike.
Simsbury tied the game in the sixth on a RBI groundout.
The game remained tied through seven and would go to extra innings.
The Sabercats took a 2-1 lead on a two-out error in the eighth as the free runner at second came in to score.
Bridgeport tied the game in the bottom half of the frame. Matt Vivona started at second as the automatic runner. Chris Domizio, pinch-hitting, sacrificed him over to third. The next batter, Jack Corcoran, lined a hard single to left field to bring in Vivona and put Bridgeport back on top.
The game would remain tied and head to the ninth. Simsbury scored as their automatic runner went to third on a flyout and then scored on a wild pitch on a strikeout.
Bridgeport could not push anything across in the bottom of the ninth and Simsbury came away with the win.
The Barnums will be back in action on Thursday at Glastonbury at 6:30pm.
