Big Seventh Inning Lifts Barnums Over Glastonbury

Trailing 2-0 after six innings, the Bridgeport Barnums scored six in the top of the seventh to come away with a 6-3 won over the Glastonbury Arrows on Thursday night at Glastonbury Riverfront Park.

In the seventh, Matt Tabet led off with a walk. Two batters later, with Brayden Mazzoni at the plate, Tabet stole second and moved to third on an error. Mazzoni then singled to center field to bring in Tabet and get Bridgeport on the board. Mazzoni had two of the seven Barnums hits on the day.

Mazzoni then got himself in scoring position by stealing second and third. Christian Homa came up and hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring home Mazzoni and tie the game at two.

Michael Hernandez walked and Blake Benway was hit by a pitch, before Matt Vivona singled to bring in Hernandez and give Bridgeport the lead for the first time.

The Barnums weren't done. Chris Domizio singled to left to bring in Benway and push the Bridgeport lead to 4-2. Two batters later, with the bases now loaded, Justin Higgins walked to force home Vivona. The Barnums scoring was capped when the next batter, Andrew Fortunato was hit by a pitch to bring in Domizio.

Glastonbury would get a run back in the bottom of the seventh but nothing more.

One the mound for Bridgeport, Joey Sangiuolo started and threw three scoreless innings. Chris Zajac then came on and allowed two runs, one earned, in two innings and Edmund Hogan picked up the win with two innings of one run ball to close out the game.
