Five-Run Sixth Lifts Waterbury Over Barnums

The Waterbury Silverbacks defeated the Bridgport Barnums 8-3 on Sunday afternoon at Seaside Park in Bridgeport. 

Waterbury scored two runs in the first inning. 

Bridgeport got one back in the of the first. Joey D'Elia walked to lead off the inning. Two batters later, D"Elia stole second and the throw went into center field, allowing D'Elia to come all the way around and score. 

Bridgeport took the lead in the third. With the bases-loaded and two outs, Justin Higgins singled to right to bring in Matt Vivona and Christian Home and give Bridgport a 3-2 lead. 

Waterbury pushed across a two-out run in the fifth to tie the game at three. 

The Silverbacks took the lead back with a five-run sixth inning. The big hit was a bases-loaded double that cleared the bases. 

Bridgeport will be back in action on Tuesday at 5:30pm at Wallingford.
