Corcoran's Big Hit Propels Barnums Past Simsbury

Jack Corconran's two-run single in the fifth inning broke a scoreless tie as the Bridgeport Barnums defeated the Simsbury Sabercats 2-0 in an elimination game in the CCBL playoffs on Wednesday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.

The game was scoreless through 4 1/2 and the combination of Will O'Connor and Ed Hogan were shutting down the Sabercats and Charlie Biskupiak was keeping the Barnums off the scoreboard.

O'Connor threw the first three and scattered just three hits while striking out two. Hogan struck out five and walked one, while allowing two hits over the final four to pick up the win.

The Barnums did not pick up their first hit until the fifth when Brayden Mazzoni singled to lead off the inning. Three batters later, Justin Higgins walked.

With runners at the corners and two outs, Corcoran came through with a line-drive to right center to bring in both runs.

The Barnums will be back in action on Thursday vs Wallingford 5:45pm at West Haven High School.
