Barnums Drops 2024 Season Opener to Southington

The Bridgeport Barnums fell 12-4 to the Southington Black Knights on Friday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.
The first inning saw scoring from both sides.
Right of the bat, Southington put up four runs.
Bridgeport came back in the bottom half with two. Will Stellato single with one out. John Heitzman then doubled to right and Stellato come in to score as the throw in from right field got away. Later in the inning, Heitzman stole third and came in to score at the throw to third by the catcher went into left field.
Southington would add two more in the second, three in the fourth and three in the sixth.
The Barnums scored lone runs in the fourth and seventh.
In the fourth, Stellato tripled to center field. Two batters later, Blake Benway singled to bring in Stellato.
In the seventh, Yeudy Ramirez singled home Joey D'Elia to cap the scoring.
The Barnums will be back in action on Sunday vs Waterbury at 11am at Seaside Park.
