Barnums Edged By West Haven in Low Scoring Affair
The Bridgeport Barnums fell to the West Haven Sailors 2-1 on Friday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.
The Barnums outhit the Sailors 5-3 but could only push across one run.
Bridgeport took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third. Yeudy Ramirez led off the inning with a single to center field. Later in the inning, with Ramirez at second base and two outs, Will Stellato looped a single to center to bring home Ramirez.
West Haven got their two runs in the fifth inning on only one hit. They also got a walk but played small ball with stolen bases and productive outs.
The pitching for the Barnums was tremendous in the loss. Matt Tabet threw six innings, allowing just two runs on three hits, while walking one and striking out 10.
Cole Gibson struck out two in a scoreless sixth.
Bridgeport is right back in action on Saturday as they host Manchester in a doubleheader at Seaside Park at 10:30am and 1:30pm.
