Gibson's Strong Outing Leads Barnums Past Simsbury
Cole Gibson's complete-game led the Barnums to a 2-1 wild pitch walk-off win over Simsbury on Tuesday at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.
Gibson allowed just an unearned run on four hits while striking out eight and walking just one in the seven innings.
Simsbury got their run in the second inning and the score stayed 1-0 until the fifth.
The Barnums got on the board and tied the game in the fifth. With runners on second and third and two outs, Dima Cornell-Neal signed to left to plate Yeudy Ramirez to tie the game. The go-ahead run, however, was thrown out at the plate.
In the seventh, Christian Homa singled to lead off the inning. Two batters later, Christian Nilsen was hit by a pitch with two outs.
Then, with Ian Nilsen at the plate, back-to-back wild pitches brought Homa across the plate and the Barnums came away victorious.
Bridgeport improves to 4-1 and will be back in action on Wednesday at 5:45pm at Seaside Park versus Hamden.
