Tabet Pitches Barnums Past Hamden in Low-Scoring Affair

Matt Tabet gets ready to deliver a pitch

Matt Tabet's complete game four-hitter led the Bridgeport Barnums past the Hamden Miners 2-0 on Tuesday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.

Tabet struck out seven and walked just one.

The game was scoreless through the first five innings as neither team could get anything going offensively.

In the top of the sixth, the Barnums, playing as the road team, despite being at home, got on the board.

With two outs and nobody on, Yeudy Ramirez doubled off the wall in left field and Sebastian Sampieri reached on an error to put runners on the corners.

A strikeout and a wild pitch brought home Ramierez with the game's first run.

Bridgeport tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh. Will Stellato doubled down the left field line and two batters later, John Heitzman hit a sacrifice fly to right field to plate Stellato.

The Barnums will be back in action on Wednesday at West Haven at 5:45pm. They return home on Saturday for a doubleheader with Western Mass at 11am and 1:30pm.
