Behind strong pitching and timely offense, the Barnums defeated the Black Knights 4-0 on Friday night at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.
Zach Broderick threw 4.2 innings of three hit baseball and Jeff Kraus closed it out allowing just two hits over the final 2.1.
Offensively, Bridgeport got on the board in the bottom of the first. Pablo Aquino singled and Jose Vasquez walked. Two batters later, the runners attempted a double steal and the throw to third sailed into left field to allow Aquino to scamper home.
The Barnums added two more in the third. Mike Porzio tripled leading off and the next batter, Kieran Scruggs grounded out to shortstop and with the infield back, Porzio was able to come in and score.
Two batters later, after Aquino was hit by a pitch, Vasquez doubled to right to score Aquino.
The scoring was capped in the fourth when Christian Nilsen walked and Bryan Vasquez hit a sacrifice fly.
Bridgeport will be back in action on Sunday at 11am at home vs Danbury.
