Late Runs Push Barnums Past Meriden

It took until the fifth inning for runs to come across the plate, but when they did it was the Bridgeport Barnums putting up a four spot en route to a 4-1 victory over Meriden.

Bridgport loaded the bases in the fifth with no outs on singles by Will Stellato, Cam Forte and Nick Piscioniere before Ian Nilsen connected on the fourth straight single to push across two runs.

Later in the inning with the bases once again loaded and one out, Piscioniere came home on a passed ball. The final run also came in to score on another passed ball as Nilsen raced home to cap the Barnums scoring.

On the mound, Zack Broderick threw five innings of two hit baseball to pick up the win. He struck out nine and walked just one. Jeff Kraus threw the final two innings.
