Barnums Finish Regular Season With Solid Win Over Glastonbury
In Friday's game, Bridgeport jumped out to a 2-0 lead after an inning and never looked back.
With runners on the corners, TJ Baer hit a fly ball to right field that would have been a sacrifice fly but was dropped and Pablo Aquino came in to score. Two batters later, Christian Nilsen singled to right field to bring in Bauer.
The Barnums tacked on in the second inning. With two on and one out, Brian Vasquez reached on an error allowing Ian Nilsen, who had singled, to come home. Later in the inning, Nick Piscioniere singled to left to plate two more runs and extend the lead to 5-2.
Bridgeport added two more runs in the fourth. Vasquez hit a sacrifice fly to score Mike Porzio Jr. who had walked to lead off the inning. Sean Fallon followed up with a sacrifice fly of his own to extend the lead to 7-0.
Glastonbury got on the board with two runs in the fifth. After a one-out error, Kyle Stephens doubled to left to plate Elliot Hamilton and get the Arrows on the board. Owen Stephens followed up with an RBI double of his own to cut the deficit to 7-2.
That was as close as Glastonbury would get.
The Barnums added another run in the bottom of the fifth on yet another sacrifice fly. This one off the bat on Will Stellato to bring home Piscioniere, who doubled leading off the inning.
Jimmy Muthersbaugh was solid on the mound for the Barnums, throwing a complete game. Muthersbaugh scattered six hits and allowed just one earned run while striking out seven and walking just one.
