Barnums Top Danbury In High Scoring Affair
The Bridgeport Barnums defeated the Danbury Lakehounds 9-7 on Thursday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.
The Barnums pounded out 13 hits, including five players with multiple hits.
In the first inning TJ Baer came up with a line-drive RBI double to deep right field. Later in the inning Baer stole home as part of a double-steal.
The Lakehounds put up three runs in the top of the second, including a two-run single from Anthony Hackert.
The Barnums would re-take the lead in the bottom half of the frame. Four straight run-scoring singles from Nick Piscioniere, Baer, Will Stellato and Mike Porzio gave Bridgeport a 7-3 lead after two innings.
Danbury got a run back in the third on Jackson Ciccione's RBI double to left field.
The Barnums added a run on the fourth on an RBI single by Piscioniere to increase the lead to 8-4.
Danbury would cut the deficit to 8-6 in the fifth, before the Barnums added an insurance run in the bottom of the inning. Ian Nilsen lined a sharp single to left field to plate his brother, Christian.
Zach Broderick picked up the win with a scoreless inning of relief. Jackson Geisler got the save.
The Barnums are back in action on Friday at home against Glastonbury at 5:45pm.
