Pitching, Timely Offense Lead Barnums Past Gold Star

The Bridgeport Barnums defeated Gold Star 3-0 on Saturday at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.

The Barnums got terrific pitching from Jimmy Mutherbaugh and timely offense to propel themselves to victory.

Muthersbaugh threw a complete game allowing just four hits while striking out eight and walking none.

Offensively, Sean Fallon and Ian Nilsen each had two hits. Meyer Stransky had a hit and the lone RBI.

The Barnums got on the board in the bottom of the first. After three straight singles, Nick Piscioniere came in to score on a wild pitch. Stransky then beat out a slow roller to push across another run as TJ Baer crossed the plate.

The Barnums got in insurance run in the fifth. Fallon doubled and then came into score on an error on a pick-off play with Pablo Aquino on first.
