Corcoran's Big Hit Propels Barnums Past Simsbury

Jack Corconran's two-run single in the fifth inning broke a scoreless tie as the Bridgeport Barnums defeated the Simsbury Sabercats 2-0 in an elimination game in the CCBL playoffs on Wednesday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  The game was scoreless through 4 1/2 and the combination of Will O'Connor and Ed Hogan were shutting down the Sabercats and Charlie Biskupiak was keeping the Barnums off the scoreboard.  O'Connor threw the first three and scattered just three hits while striking out two. Hogan struck out five and walked one, while allowing two hits over the final four to pick up the win.  The Barnums did not pick up their first hit until the fifth when Brayden Mazzoni singled to lead off the inning. Three batters later, Justin Higgins walked.  With runners at the corners and two outs, Corcoran came through with a line-drive to right center to bring in both runs.  The Barnums will be back in action on Thursday vs Wallingford 5:45pm at West Haven High ...

Mazzoni Eighth Inning Walk-Off Lifts Barnums Past Southington In Opening Round of the Playoffs

Brayden Mazzoni's walk-off eighth inning single to score automatic runner Joey's D'Elia lifted the Bridgeport Barnums to a 5-4 first round CCBL playoff victory over the Southington Black Knights on Sunday afternoon at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  Southington got on the board right in the way, putting up three in the top of the first. The Black Knights were heled by a dropped fly ball. The big hit in the inning was a two-run single by Jack McManus.  Bridgeport got a couple back in the bottom half of the frame.  With runners on first and second and one-out, Blake Benway singled to right to bring home Will Stellato and get the Barnums on the board. They added another on a bases-loaded walk by Matt Vivona.  Southington added a run in the top of the fourth on Jared Clark's RBI single.  Bridgeport got two back in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at four.  Michael Hernandez led off the inning with a double. Barnums Use Aggressive Baserunning, Strong Pitching to Top Hamden

The Bridgeport Barnums defeated the Hamden Miners 6-0 on Monday night at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  It was the final regular season home game for the Barnums, who finish on the road, before a possible home playoff game next week.  The Barnums got on the board in the bottom of the first. With Will Stellato on second, after singling to lead off the game, and two outs, Stellato stole third and the throw from the Hamden catcher went into left field to allow Stellato to score.  Bridgeport tacked on in the fourth. Brayden Mazzoni attempted to steal third, and, much like in the first inning, the throw went into left field to allow Mazzoni to score.  Later in the inning, with Joey D'Elia at second, Blake Benway beat out a slow roller between the pitchers mound and first base. Barnums Nipped by Waterbury

The Bridgeport Barnums fell to Waterbury 2-0 on Saturday at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  Waterbury picked up runs in the second and the fifth, and Bridgeport's offense could do nothing to get anything going.  The Barnums were held to four baserunners, two hits, a walk, and a hits batsman.  Ed Hogan threw five strong innings on the mound, allowing just one earned run on four hits, while walking one and striking out seven.  Liam Rosengren was good in relief with two shutout innings, allowing just an infield hit, and picking up two strikeouts.  The Barnums are back in action on Monday at 5:45pm at Seaside Park vs Hamden for the final regular season home game of the season. 

Barnums Edge Glastonbury To Cap Strong Weekend

Chris Domizio waits for a pitch during the Barnums game on Sunday.  The Bridgeport Barnums defeated the Glastonbury Arrows 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park in Bridgeport.  The win capped a strong weekend for the Barnums, who won on Friday and took two on Saturday, before coming up with Sunday's win.  On Friday, the defeated Simsbury 7-2 and on Saturday, they defeated Western Massachusetts 11-1 and 10-6.  As for Sunday, Bridgeport got out to a 3-0 lead, as the scored two in the first inning and one in the second inning. Glasonbury then scored two in the third.  That would be all the scoring for the game.  Phil Hogan and Joey Sanguiolo were solid on the mound for the Barnums. Hogan picked up the win, allowing two runs on six hits over four innings while striking out five and walking one. Barnums Split Non-League Doubleheader with Waterbury

The Barnums split a non-league doubleheader with Waterbury on Saturday at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  Bridgeport won game one, 6-0, before falling 8-4 in game two.  It was the Hogan show on the mound on game one. Edmund threw six innings, giving up just four hits and two walks while striking out 11. Phil allowed one walk but struck out the side in the seventh.  Offensively for the Barnums, they got on the board in the second inning. With runners at the corners and two outs, Dima Cornell-Neal signed to right field to plate Mike Hernandez.  Bridgeport tacked on in the fifth, scoring four times. All four runs scored with two outs. With the bases loaded, Waterbury's pitcher balked for force in a run and move runners to second and third.  Later in the inning, with the bases loaded again, Will Stellato singled to plate two runs and increase the lead to 4-0.  The final run of the frame scored later in the inning when Stelatto and Justin Higgins exceuted a first a...
