Comeback Comes Up Short As Barnums Drop Tight Game To West Haven

 The West Haven Sailors defeated the Bridgeport Barnums 4-3 on Thursday afternoon in West Haven. Despite the game being in West Haven, Bridgeport was the home team.  The Sailors got on the board in the top of the first with two runs. West Haven added two more in the top of the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.  Bridgeport answered back in the bottom of the fourth.  Andrew Fortunato, who has the lone Barnum with multiple hits on the day, led off with a single to right. The next batter, Charlie Mulhall, doubled to center field to score Fortunato.  Will Stellato followed up with a double of his own to score Mulhall to cut the deficit in half, 4-2. Three batters later, with runners at the corners, Christian Homa stole second and Stellato scored from third on an error to cut the deficit to one. Big First Inning Lifts Southington To Win Over Barnums

 The Southington Blue Knights scored nine runs in the first inning on Wednesday evening en route to a 10-3 victory over the Bridgeport Barnums.  Southington added two more runs in the second inning before Bridgeport scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.  In the third, Will Stellato singled to left to bring in Justin Higgins with the Barnums first run,  The Barnums second run came on Joey D'Elia's double to center field to plate Christian Homa in the fourth.  The final Bridgeport run came in the fifth. Stellato hit a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to score Chris Domizio, who had walked to lead off the inning.  The Barnums are back in action on Friday vs Waterbury at Municipal Stadium at 5:45pm. 

Big Seventh Inning Lifts Barnums Over Glastonbury

Trailing 2-0 after six innings, the Bridgeport Barnums scored six in the top of the seventh to come away with a 6-3 won over the Glastonbury Arrows on Thursday night at Glastonbury Riverfront Park.  In the seventh, Matt Tabet led off with a walk. Two batters later, with Brayden Mazzoni at the plate, Tabet stole second and moved to third on an error. Mazzoni then singled to center field to bring in Tabet and get Bridgeport on the board. Mazzoni had two of the seven Barnums hits on the day.  Mazzoni then got himself in scoring position by stealing second and third. Christian Homa came up and hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring home Mazzoni and tie the game at two.  Michael Hernandez walked and Blake Benway was hit by a pitch, before Matt Vivona singled to bring in Hernandez and give Bridgeport the lead for the first time.  The Barnums weren't done. Barnums Fall In Extras To Simsbury

The Bridgeport Barnums fell to the Simsbury Sabercats 3-2 in nine innings on Tuesday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  The game was scoreless through three and a half innings, before Bridgeport got on the board in the bottom of the fourth.  The run came in when Brayden Mazzoni, who had singled to lead off the inning, ran home on a throw down to first after a dropped third strike.  Simsbury tied the game in the sixth on a RBI groundout. The game remained tied through seven and would go to extra innings.  The Sabercats took a 2-1 lead on a two-out error in the eighth as the free runner at second came in to score.  Bridgeport tied the game in the bottom half of the frame. Matt Vivona started at second as the automatic runner. Chris Domizio, pinch-hitting, sacrificed him over to third. The next batter, Jack Corcoran, lined a hard single to left field to bring in Vivona and put Bridgeport back on top.  The game would remain tied and head to the ninth. Sims...

Barnums Take Two From Western Mass

The Barnums swept a doubleheader from Western Mass on Sunday afternoon at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  Bridgeport won game one, 3-2 in come from behind fashion and took game two by a 5-0 score.  In game one, after giving up two un-earned runs in the third, the Barnums put up a three spot in the fourth. That was all the scoring for the game.  In that fourth, Michael Hernandez walked with one out. The next batter, Blake Benway tripled to right field to bring home Hernandez and get Bridgeport on the board.  The Barnums tied the game when Benway scored on a ground ball to second by Matt Vivona that was thrown out of reach of the Western Mass catcher. Vivona was able to get to second on the overthrow.  Two batters later, with runners at the corners, Jack Corcoran grounded out to third to bring in Vivona and give Bridgeport a 3-2 lead.  Phil Hogan got the win on the mound for the Barnums. Five-Run Sixth Lifts Waterbury Over Barnums

The Waterbury Silverbacks defeated the Bridgport Barnums 8-3 on Sunday afternoon at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  Waterbury scored two runs in the first inning.  Bridgeport got one back in the of the first. Joey D'Elia walked to lead off the inning. Two batters later, D"Elia stole second and the throw went into center field, allowing D'Elia to come all the way around and score.  Bridgeport took the lead in the third. With the bases-loaded and two outs, Justin Higgins singled to right to bring in Matt Vivona and Christian Home and give Bridgport a 3-2 lead.  Waterbury pushed across a two-out run in the fifth to tie the game at three.  The Silverbacks took the lead back with a five-run sixth inning. The big hit was a bases-loaded double that cleared the bases.  Bridgeport will be back in action on Tuesday at 5:30pm at Wallingford. 

Barnums Fall In Scrimmage To Danbury Westerners

Andrew Fortunato gets set to deliver a pitch The Bridgeport Barnums fell to the Danbury Westerners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League 10-0 in a scrimmage on Saturday afternoon at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  The Westerners picked up three runs in the second, one in the fourth, three in the fifth and three in the sixth.  The Barnums managed just two hits  On the positive side for the Barnum, Andrew Fortunato threw a perfect seventh inning on just 10 pitches  Bridgeport will be back in action with a regular season game on Sunday at 12pm vs Waterbury.
