Brian Vasquez then singled to right. Two batters later, Scruggs came off the bench and delivered the decisive hit.  The Barnums got terrific pitching from Jimmy Muthersbaugh who throw a complete game. He allowed two runs on six hits, while striking out four and walking none.  The game was scoreless for the first three and a half innings before the Barnums got on the board in the bottom of the fourth.  Meyer Stransky walked to lead off the inning. Evan Rossi delivers a pitch during the Barnums playoff win on Thursday.  The Bridgeport Barnums used a six run fifth to defeat the Gold Star Generals 7-5 on Thursday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport in the second round of the Connecticut College Baseball League Playoffs.  The game was scoreless through the first three, but Gold Star was able to pick up a run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth, thanks in large part to four errors committed by the Barnums.  The Barnums also left nine guys on through the first four innings. Everything changed in the bottom of the fifth inning though.  Sean Fallon led off with a single. Pablo Aquino followed up with a double. That set up Nick Piscioniere, who tripled to center field to bring home Fallon and Aquino and cut the deficit to 5-2.  TJ Baer and Will Stellato each followed up with RBI doubles to trim the Generals lead to one, 5-4.  Two batters later, Christian Nilsen tripled to center field to score Stellato...

The Bridgeport Barnums finished the regular season with a 19-2-2 record following an 8-2 win over Glastonbury on Friday evening at Seaside Park. The Barnums will be the top seed heading into the Connecticut College Baseball League playoffs.  In Friday's game, Bridgeport jumped out to a 2-0 lead after an inning and never looked back.  With runners on the corners, TJ Baer hit a fly ball to right field that would have been a sacrifice fly but was dropped and Pablo Aquino came in to score. Two batters later, Christian Nilsen singled to right field to bring in Bauer.  The Barnums tacked on in the second inning. With two on and one out, Brian Vasquez reached on an error allowing Ian Nilsen, who had singled, to come home. Later in the inning, Nick Piscioniere singled to left to plate two more runs and extend the lead to 5-2.  Bridgeport added two more runs in the fourth. The Bridgeport Barnums defeated the Danbury Lakehounds 9-7 on Thursday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  The Barnums pounded out 13 hits, including five players with multiple hits.  In the first inning TJ Baer came up with a line-drive RBI double to deep right field. Later in the inning Baer stole home as part of a double-steal.  The Lakehounds put up three runs in the top of the second, including a two-run single from Anthony Hackert.  The Barnums would re-take the lead in the bottom half of the frame. Four straight run-scoring singles from Nick Piscioniere, Baer, Will Stellato and Mike Porzio gave Bridgeport a 7-3 lead after two innings.  Danbury got a run back in the third on Jackson Ciccione's RBI double to left field.  The Barnums added a run on the fourth on an RBI single by Piscioniere to increase the lead to 8-4.  Danbury would cut the deficit to 8-6 in the fifth, before the Barnums added an insurance run in the bottom of the inning. The Bridgeport Barnums defeated Gold Star 3-0 on Saturday at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  The Barnums got terrific pitching from Jimmy Mutherbaugh and timely offense to propel themselves to victory.  Muthersbaugh threw a complete game allowing just four hits while striking out eight and walking none.  Offensively, Sean Fallon and Ian Nilsen each had two hits. Meyer Stransky had a hit and the lone RBI.  The Barnums got on the board in the bottom of the first. After three straight singles, Nick Piscioniere came in to score on a wild pitch. Stransky then beat out a slow roller to push across another run as TJ Baer crossed the plate.  The Barnums got in insurance run in the fifth. Fallon doubled and then came into score on an error on a pick-off play with Pablo Aquino on first.  The Barnums finish the weekend at Washington Park in Avery Point with a doubleheader against Gold Star on Sunday at 12pm and 2:45pm.  ----------------------------------------------...

 The Bridgeport Barnums dropped their first game on the season as the fell to West Haven 9-3 on Saturday at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  The Barnums got off to a strong start, going up 3-0 after four innings, before giving up nine unanswered runs.  Meyer Stransky led the Barnums offense with two hits and a run batted in.  The Barnums first run in the third inning came on a bases-loaded walk by Jose Vasquez.  The fourth inning runs came on RBI singles from Stansky and Bryan Vazquez.  Bridgeport is back in action on Sunday against Glastonbury at Riverfront Stadium at 5pm. 

The Bridgeport Barnums scored early and often on the way to a 10-1 victory over Simsbury on Friday night at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  The Barnums put on two in the first, two in the second, four in the third and then it took until the sixth for them to score again, when the added a final two runs.  In the first inning, Pablo Aquino tripled to lead off. Two batters later, with Jose Vasquez at the plate, Aquino came in to score on a passed ball.  Vasquez would then double and come home on an Ian Nilsen single to center field.  Two runs scored in the second inning as Cam Forte came in on a wild pitch and Mike Porzio Jr. raced home on a passed ball.  In the third, four consecutive walks to open the inning pushed across the fifth Barnum run. With the bases still loaded, Forte doubled to right to clear the bases and extend the Barnums lead to 8-1.  In the sixth, with Porzio on second, Meyer Stransky singled to center to bring in Porzio. There weren't a lot of hits, but the hits the Bridgeport Barnums did get were timely in their 2-1 win over the Waterbury Silverbacks on Tuesday night at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  The Barnums were outhit by Waterbury, five to four, but two of the four hit and both RBI came off the bat of Captain Will Stellato.  With two outs and a runner at third, Stellato hit a line drive the bounded off the pitcher and towards third base for an infield hit, allowing Jose Vasquez to score from third.  In the fourth, after Vasquez walked and stole second with one out, Stellato lined a ball deep to right field for an RBI triple to extend the Barnums lead to 2-0.  Jimmy Muthersbaugh was stellar on the mound for the Barnums. He threw five innings of three-hit baseball while striking out two and walking none. Harry Tavella allowed one run over the final two innings but picked up the save.  The Barnums also got great outfield defense, including Stellato snagging a line drive in rig...

It took until the fifth inning for runs to come across the plate, but when they did it was the Bridgeport Barnums putting up a four spot en route to a 4-1 victory over Meriden.  Bridgport loaded the bases in the fifth with no outs on singles by Will Stellato, Cam Forte and Nick Piscioniere before Ian Nilsen connected on the fourth straight single to push across two runs.  Later in the inning with the bases once again loaded and one out, Piscioniere came home on a passed ball. The final run also came in to score on another passed ball as Nilsen raced home to cap the Barnums scoring.  On the mound, Zack Broderick threw five innings of two hit baseball to pick up the win. He struck out nine and walked just one. Jeff Kraus threw the final two innings. 

Ian Nilsen's walk-off sacrifice fly lifted the Bridgeport Barnums past the Hamden Miners 3-2 on Thursday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  Three walks and a line out in between in the seventh led to Nielsen's sacrifice fly to center field to score Jose Vasquez.  Hamden scored a run in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead.  The Barnums tied the game in the bottom of the second.  Cam Forte singled leading off the inning. Nick Piscioniere walked. Two batters late Christian Nilsen hit a sacrifice fly to score Forte.  Hamden took the lead back in the top of the fourth before Bridgeport tied it in the bottom half.  With Will Stellato at second and two outs Piscioniere singled to right field to plate Stellato.  The pitching of Evan Rossi, Jackson Geisler, Luke Stasko and Harry Tavella was sold for the Barnums allowing just one earned run on four hits, while striking out seven. 

The Bridgeport Barnums defeated the Danbury Lakehounds in walk-off fashion 2-1 in eight innings on Sunday at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  After Danbury took a 1-0 lead in the top of the eighth, the Barums scored two runs in the bottom half to come away with the walk-off victory. Nickolas Piscioniere's full-count walk-off walk pushed home the game-winning run.  Earlier in the inning, with the automatic runner Will Stellato at second, Ian Nilsen walked. The next batter, Cam Forte bunted and beat out the throw which sailed down the right field line allowing Stellato to score and Nilsen to go to third. Christian Nilsen was intentionally walked to load the bases. That set up Piscioniere's decisive at-bat.  The game was a pitcher's duel for most of the game as Hayen Lee and Max Jarvie were dealing for Bridgeport and Danbury, respectively.  Lee threw five scoreless allowing just three hits and three walks. Kieran Scruggs waits for a pitch during the third inning of the Barnums game on Friday.  The Bridgeport Barnums, the defending Connecticut College Baseball League Champions, opened up the 2025 campaign the saw way it ended 2024. A win over Southington.  Behind strong pitching and timely offense, the Barnums defeated the Black Knights 4-0 on Friday night at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  Zach Broderick threw 4.2 innings of three hit baseball and Jeff Kraus closed it out allowing just two hits over the final 2.1.  Offensively, Bridgeport got on the board in the bottom of the first. Pablo Aquino singled and Jose Vasquez walked. Two batters later, the runners attempted a double steal and the throw to third sailed into left field to allow Aquino to scamper home.  The Barnums added two more in the third. Mike Porzio tripled leading off and the next batter, Kieran Scruggs grounded out to shortstop and with the infield back, Porzio was able to come in and score.  Two...

The Bridgeport Barnums are 2024 Connecticut College Baseball League Champions!  The Barnums defeated the Southington Black Knights 5-2 in the Championship game on Tuesday night at Memorial Field in Simsbury.  After finishing 12-9-1 in the regular season, Bridgeport earned the number three seed in the playoffs.  The Barnums opened up the playoffs with a 2-0 win over Waterbury on July 24. The next day, they followed up with a 5-2 win over West Haven. That moved them into the Winners Bracket Final.  On July 27, they defeated Wallingford to advance to the championship,  After the championship was postponed on Monday, the Barnums jumped out to a 5-0 lead before holding on four a 5-2 victory.  Winning a championship, and running the table in the playoffs, is an impressive feat. The 2024 Bridgeport Barnums  Cole Gibson pitched a no-hitter to lead the Bridgeport Barnums to a 5-0 win over the Waterbury Silverbacks in the Connecticut College Baseball League Winners Bracket Final on Saturday morning at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  Gibson allowed a leadoff walk in the top of the first inning and nothing more, while striking out 10.  The only other baserunner reached on an error in the sixth inning, but Gibson was able to work out of it.  Offensively, the Barnums on the board in the second inning.   Blake Benway led off the inning with a single. Two batters later, Kieran Shea singled to put two on.  After a walk loaded the bases, Sebastian Sampieri hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Benway and put Bridgeport up 1-0.  The Barnums broke the game open in the fourth, scoring three times, all with two outs.  With runners on first and second, Yeudy Ramirez singled to right to bring in Christian Nilsen. Behind Joey Sanguiolo's complete-game four-hitter, the Bridgeport Barnums defeated the Waterbury Silverbacks 2-0 on Wednesday night evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  The Barnums got on the board in the bottom of the first.  Christian Homa and John Heitzman each singled to put runners on the corners with one out. Will Stellato then came up and dunked a single to right to bring in Homa. One of two hits on the game for Stellato.  With Heitzman at third and Stellato at first, a pickoff attempt at first base was arrent, allowing Heiztman to come in and score and Stellato to move to second.  That was all the Barnums would get, but it was enough.  Sanguiolo did the rest on the mound.  The Bridgeport side-armer struck out seven and did not walk a single batter in the complete-game effort.  The Barnums will play in the second round on Thursday vs West Haven at 5:45pm at West Haven High School. 

Waterbury scored four runs in the top of the first and two more in the second en route to a 7-1 victory over the Bridgeport Barnums on Thursday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  Bridgeport got their run in the fourth. Will Stellato walked to lead off the inning.  Blake Benway reached on an error moving Stellato to third. The next batter Ian Nilsen grounded out to shortstop to bring home Stellato and get the Barnums on the board. That is all they would get.  The Barnums will be back in action on Friday vs Wallingford at Cheshire at 5:30. Bridgeport will return home for the regular season finale on Wednesday at 5:45 vs Hamden. 

The Bridgeport Barnums fell to the Glastonbury Arrows 5-3 on Wednesday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  Glastonbury went up 3-0 mid fourth before Bridgeport got on the board.  With two outs in the fourth, Ian Nilsen and Blake Benway both walked. A wild pitched moved runners to second and third before a pickoff attempt of Benway at second went into center field allowing Nilsen to come in and score.  Glastonbury would add two more in the fifth to stretch their lead to 5-1.  Bridgeport cut into the deficit with two runs in the sixth. With the bases loaded and two outs, Joey D’Elia singled to left to plate Will Stellato. The next batter, Will Singewald was hit by a pitch to force in a run. That would be all the Barnums would get as they would leave the bases loaded.  Bridgeport is right back in action on Thursday at 5:45pm at home vs Waterbury. 

The Bridgeport Barnums came up on the short side of both games of Saturday's doubleheader against the Western Mass Pioneers.  In game one, Bridgeport fell in extra innings 6-5 after losing a late lead. In game two, Western Mass won a pitcher's duel 2-0.  The Barnums got on the board in the first inning in game one.  Yeudy Ramirez walked to lead off the inning. He stole second and the throw went into center field, allowing him to try for third. Then, the throw from center field to third got past the third baseman allowing Ramirez to come in and score.  In the second inning, Bridgeport added another.  Will Singewald was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Two batters later, with Singewald at second and one out, Joey D'Elia doubled to left to bring home Singewald.  Western Mass got on the board in the fourth.  In the bottom of the fifth, The Barnums got the run back.  Kieran Shea was hit by a pitch. Matt Tabet gets ready to deliver a pitch Matt Tabet's complete game four-hitter led the Bridgeport Barnums past the Hamden Miners 2-0 on Tuesday evening at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  Tabet struck out seven and walked just one.  The game was scoreless through the first five innings as neither team could get anything going offensively.  In the top of the sixth, the Barnums, playing as the road team, despite being at home, got on the board.  With two outs and nobody on, Yeudy Ramirez doubled off the wall in left field and Sebastian Sampieri reached on an error to put runners on the corners.  A strikeout and a wild pitch brought home Ramierez with the game's first run.  Bridgeport tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh. Will Stellato doubled down the left field line and two batters later, John Heitzman hit a sacrifice fly to right field to plate Stellato.  The Barnums will be back in action on Wednesday at West Haven at 5:45pm. The Bridgeport Barnums' fell to the Wallingford Silver Storm 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.  Wallingford put up a run in the first on an error, stolen base and single.  The game remained 1-0 until the sixth when the Silverstorm tacked on another.  The Barnums' loaded the bases with nobody out in the sixth and a sacrifice fly by Kieran Shea brought home one run to get Bridgeport on the board.  The Barnums' could get no more in the sixth or seventh, despite chances.  Joey Sanguiolo threw a complete game for Bridgeport, allowing just the two runs (one earned) on four hits while walking two and striking out six.  The Barnums' are back in action on Tuesday at home at 5:45pm vs Hamden at Seaside Park.
